Developing Policies to Support a Southern Educational Equity Agenda

This session focused on policies and investments necessary to ensure equitable access to quality education in Atlanta and across the South. Participants discussed strategies to engage school boards, county governments, and state legislatures in addressing the needs of historically disinvested communities.

The evening featured two powerful highlights:

• Tackling Student Debt with MDC Economic Security and Mobility, addressing the economic barriers students face.
• Cultural Erasure in Education, with a performance by Soul Food Cypher, using art to explore and confront the erasure of cultural identities in educational systems.
