Genny Castillo 

SESSION(S): Advancing New Policies to Close the Racial Wealth Gap

Genny Castillo is the Deputy Director for the Southern Economic Advancement Project (SEAP). Genny is focused on bridging the gaps for community members and policy impact in the South. Her professional experience includes COO of BLUE Institute, the Latinx Constituency Director in the Democratic Party of Georgia, and the Director of Caucus Services.

Genny developed one of the nation’s most successful internship programs for the Georgia House Democratic Caucus. She has been honored with the 2022 Berry College Distinguished Alumni Award. In 2023, as an Aspen Institute BIG Ideas Festival Fellow, and graduate of the Hispanics in Philanthropy Líderes program she was named 40 under 40 for Georgia Trend Magazine. In 2024, the Georgia First Generation Foundation selected Genny as one of the Under 40 Class members.  Genny holds a B.S. from Berry College and an A.M. from the University of Chicago.
