Shakera Singleton

Shakera is MDC’s Staff Accountant. She manages the day-to-day operations of the finance team such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, record keeping, billing, tax documents, and generating statements. She is skilled in helping nonprofit and educational organizations identify opportunities to strengthen their business strategy, operational efficiencies, and financial governance. 

Shakera holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Management Information Systems from Winston-Salem State University. She is currently pursuing her Master of Accounting with a focus in Forensic Accounting from Liberty University. Her experience is broad, with 9 years of experience working with a variety of nonprofit organizations, Tax Firms, as well as colleges and universities. 

Raised in St. Petersburg, Florida, Shakera now resides in Chapel Hill with her family. When she isn’t volunteering or preparing taxes, Shakera enjoys spending time with her family and friends, shopping, traveling, and eating.
